On the morning of June 25th, Van Lang Saigon College, an
affiliate of the Van Lang University system, successfully organized a
scientific workshop on the theme “Enhancing Vietnamese Labor Skills to Meet the
Demands of Domestic and Overseas Employers”.

The workshop was attended by nearly 200 delegates, including
experts from universities, colleges, representatives from businesses, and
vocational education institutions in the city and the Southern region.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Mr. Trương Văn Hùng,
Principal of Van Lang Saigon College, emphasized that enhancing labor skills
has become an urgent task for all countries. Many experts have highlighted that
countries with high labor productivity often have developed vocational
education systems, a workforce with high vocational skills, and the more
skilled labor a country has, the more it attracts investors. Therefore, it is
evident that training, nurturing, and preparing a skilled labor force is essential
and urgent to increase labor productivity and enhance national competitiveness
in the era of globalization. As a vocational education institution under the
Van Lang Education Group, Van Lang Saigon College is committed to realizing the
mission of “Enter Van Lang Saigon - Embrace a profession - Start working
immediately - Live well.” This mission translates into providing training
products that quickly and adequately meet the demands of the labor market and
society.

In the endeavor to enhance individual vocational skills and those
of Vietnamese labor in general, it is essential to raise society's awareness of
the pivotal role of skilled labor and continuously nurture and develop those
skills. Additionally, this is an opportunity to promote the supportive
relationship between businesses, educational institutions, and society as a
whole, helping to elevate the skills of the workforce to adapt, integrate, and
thrive amidst the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the impacts of the Covid-19
pandemic.
Mr. Kai from Kaizen Creative Vietnam Co., Ltd. participated in the
workshop session.
The workshop received nearly 40 papers from authors and
multidisciplinary author groups from various working environments nationwide.
The submissions revolved around three main themes of the workshop, including
Vocational Education in the Context of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Vocational
Education in the Context of Globalization, and Vocational Education in the
Context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Mr. Trương Lập Chiến, Co-Founder of 82 Concept, represented the
business and delivered a speech.
Through the workshop, the presentations have identified the
existing realities and issues in the current labor force from various
perspectives, aiming to propose solutions and directions for improvement in the
future. In addition to papers demonstrating a common strategic vision, many
delve into specific expertise within various occupational sectors. Some focus
on exploring soft skills, social practical skills, and mindset for the
workforce, especially young workers. The solutions shared are based on practical
experiences of the authors, making them applicable immediately to improving
training, teaching, and learning methods. Furthermore, the workshop has
received contributions from experts and businesses currently utilizing the
labor force. They are willing to collaborate and connect with educational
institutions to support and promote the training of skilled labor to meet the
needs of not only domestic but also international labor users.
Dang Minh Su, a Master's degree holder, currently serves as the
Head of the Vocational Education Department at the Department of Labor -
Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City.
During this occasion, Van Lang Saigon College has organized
collaborations with 12 enterprises across various sectors. Additionally, the
college has received scholarship support for students worth 10 million
Vietnamese dong from Felix Technology Solutions Company and an experiential
service package from Oui International - Oracle Clinic valued at 17 million
Vietnamese dong. This presents an opportunity to strengthen the bond between
the college and enterprises, gradually opening up more learning opportunities,
experiences, and skill enhancements for the college's students.

Overall, the workshop successfully achieved its intended purpose
and direction as outlined beforehand. Additionally, it provided an opportunity
for students at Van Lang Saigon College to gain insights from experts and
enterprises. This opens up more opportunities for the college to collaborate
with businesses across various sectors, not only domestically but also
internationally. It sets the groundwork for students to have more opportunities
for learning and experiencing different environments. These efforts reflect the
continuous dedication of the institution to realize its mission of providing
high-quality human resources for both domestic and international labor markets.
